All about Non-Latex Condoms
If you suffer from latex allergies, non-latex condoms are the only condoms you should be using. The many latex-free options are far from second-rate -- your options are not super limited. In fact, many people prefer non-latex condoms for the new sensations they bring to the bedroom.
Non-latex condoms are made from a variety of natural and synthetic materials including lamb intestine (lambskin), polyisoprene, and polyurethane. Each has a unique feel, and they all provide the same protection as latex condoms (apart from lamb intestine, which protects against pregnancy but not STI transmission).
Even if you don't have latex allergies, non-latex options offer a new world of variety. Latex-free materials transfer more heat and allow you to feel more moisture for a like-nothing’s-there feel.
Many also find non-latex condoms to be more comfortable and less restrictive than latex condoms. Read more about Latex vs. Non-Latex Condoms.

Non-Latex Condoms FAQ
What materials are non-latex condoms made from?
Three options: polyisoprene (synthetic rubber, feels closest to latex — used in SKYN and Avanti Bare), polyurethane (thinner, transmits more heat — most polyurethane brands are currently discontinued in the US), and lambskin (natural membrane, blocks pregnancy but NOT STIs — Trojan Naturalamb was the only brand and is currently unavailable).
Are non-latex condoms as effective as latex?
Polyisoprene and polyurethane condoms are FDA-approved and tested to the same standards as latex condoms for pregnancy and STI prevention. Lambskin condoms only prevent pregnancy — they have natural pores that can transmit viruses including HIV, herpes, and HPV.
What's the most popular non-latex condom on Condomania?
The SKYN Original and SKYN Elite Large are our top sellers. The Unique Secure Fit Latex-Free is the third bestseller — a tight-fitting polyurethane option for guys who slip out of standard condoms.
Can I use any lube with non-latex condoms?
Polyisoprene condoms behave like latex — only water-based and silicone-based lubes are safe. Oil-based lubes (coconut oil, baby oil, Vaseline) can degrade them and cause breakage. Polyurethane is more lube-tolerant but it's still safest to stick with water- or silicone-based.
