Why Condom Size Matters

Condoms are 98% effective against STIs and pregnancy — but only if you wear the right size. The wrong size raises your risk of a condom mishap from 1 in 50 to 1 in 7. Wrong-size condoms also reduce sensation, bunch and slip, can be painful if too tight, and make you look clueless in bed.

How to Find Your Condom Size

Step 1: Measure Your Penis

  1. Get an erection
  2. Length: Measure from the pubic bone to the tip — press into the skin at the base until you hit bone
  3. Girth: Wrap a measuring tape around the thickest part of the shaft (or use string + ruler)

Step 2: Find Your Condom Size

Condoms are measured by lie-flat length (inches) and width (mm). Convert your measurements:

  • Ideal condom length = penis length + 1–1.5 inches
  • Ideal condom width = girth in inches × 11 (result in mm)

Example: 5.5" long, 4.8" girth → ideal condom: ~6.5–7" long, ~52mm wide. A great match: Kimono MicroThin (7.5" / 52mm).

⚠️ GIRTH is more important than length. A short but girthy person may need a Large condom. A long but slim person may need Snug. Always size by girth first.

Step 3: Choose the Perfect Condom by Size

Borders V1

Small / Snug Condoms — Width: 49–51mm | Girth: up to 4.7"

~80% of men actually fit a snug condom — the average girth is 4.6". Most guys are buying too big. Snugger fit = more sensation, less bunching.

In stores, look for the width measurement (mm) on the packaging — sometimes it's in small print. Online at Condomania, every condom product page lists length, width, and thickness. You can also filter by size category (snug, standard, large, XL) or by exact mm width.

Condom Sizes FAQ

Does condom size matter? YES. Wrong size = higher risk of pregnancy/STI + worse sex for both partners.

How do you know if a condom is too big? It bunches up, comes off during sex, looks baggy, or reduces sensation. Too small? Feels tight, reservoir tip not visible, you go flaccid, or it leaves an impression on your shaft.

Where to find large condoms? Large condoms at Condomania — far more selection than stores.

Where to find snug condoms? Snug condoms at Condomania.

Where to find standard condoms? Standard condoms at Condomania — we list exact dimensions on every product page.

FAQs

Why is finding the right condom size so important?

The right condom size doesn’t just make sex more comfortable—it also makes it safer. A properly fitted condom enhances sensation, helps you stay harder, and prevents slipping or breaking during intercourse. It’s not just about pleasure; it’s about protection against STIs and pregnancy, too.

How do I measure my penis for the perfect condom fit?
  • Length: Use a ruler to measure from the base (near your pubic bone) to the tip while fully erect.
  • Girth: Wrap a measuring tape around the thickest part of your shaft. No tape? Use a string and then measure it with a ruler.
  • Width: Divide your girth measurement by 3.14 to get your width.
Once you’ve got the numbers, compare them to our condom size guide to find your perfect fit!
What if my condom feels too tight or too loose?

Feeling uncomfortable? That’s a red flag!

  • Too Tight: It might feel restrictive, hard to roll down, or cause loss of sensation.
  • Too Loose: It may bunch up, slip off, or feel baggy.
Either way, an ill-fitting condom can ruin the mood—and the protection. Try a size up or down based on your measurements.
Can I use lube with condoms?

Absolutely! Lube can make sex feel even better and reduce friction that might cause a condom to break. Just make sure you’re using the right type of lube for your condom. Water-based and silicone-based lubes are safe for all condoms, while oil-based lubes can damage latex condoms and cause them to tear.
