Step 1: Remove the condom from the package

Step 2: Insert the inner ring

Hold the outer ring with your other hand to keep it from going in. Insert the squeezed inner ring into the vaginal opening and push it as far up as it will go — similar to inserting a tampon or diaphragm. Use your finger to push the inner ring past the pubic bone. When properly positioned, you should feel the inner ring sitting snugly inside without discomfort.

Step 3: Position the outer ring

The outer ring should sit flat against the outside of the vagina, covering the vulva. It will hang out about an inch — this is correct. Make sure it isn't twisted or inserted inside.

Step 4: Guide during sex

Before or during sex, guide the penis (or toy) into the opening of the outer ring. If you feel the condom slipping to one side or the outer ring going inside, pause and readjust. You can add lubricant to the outside of the condom or the penis for more comfort.

Step 5: Removal after sex

Twist the outer ring to seal the contents inside, then pull the condom out gently. Wrap in tissue and dispose in the trash — do not flush. The FC2 is single-use only.

Using Internal Condoms for Anal Sex

Internal condoms can also be used for anal sex. The insertion method is slightly different:

  1. Remove the inner ring entirely (it's not needed for anal insertion)
  2. Insert the condom manually into the anus using a finger
  3. Ensure the outer ring stays outside the anus during sex
