Most condoms are basically the same, right? It doesn’t really matter which one you buy. Just slap it on your dick and hop in bed.
Wrong.
This is one of the biggest mistakes that guys make. They choose a condom with a fancy wrapper instead of considering their size and style needs.
This increases the chances of pregnancy and STI transmission, and it makes your game WEAK.
Seriously, it’s like walking onto the basketball court wearing the wrong shoe size. Your game suffers, and your partner can easily tell.
And this isn’t something that affects just a few guys. Over 80% of men wear the wrong condom size or wear condoms incorrectly.
That means if you don’t consider the differences between condoms, you are probably one of the 8 out of 10 men who are not living up to their potential in bed.
There is some good news, though.
When you find the right condom—the magical rubber that fits you like a glove—you will instantly enjoy better sex, safer sex, and more confidence whenever you do the no-pants dance.
It’s like slipping on a shoe that finally fits after wearing the wrong size for years. The change in performance is instant, and your partner will notice, too.
So, how do you find the perfect condom for your unique dong? It only takes a few simple steps, which I’ve listed below.
If you don’t have time to read up on condom stats, you can buy a condom variety pack. It contains a bunch of different condoms by different brands, helping you find the right rubber through trial and error.
How to Choose the Perfect Condom
Choosing the perfect condom takes a few steps, but you only have to do it once. When you find a condom that fits you perfectly, you can make it your go-to rubber and enjoy better lays for the rest of your days.
Step 1: Find Your Condom Size
Wearing the right condom size is the most important part of finding the perfect condom. As I mentioned, wearing the wrong condom size is like wearing the wrong shoe size.
It makes you look—and perform—like a clown.
Wearing the wrong condom size also makes sex less safe. Ill-fitting condoms more easily break and slip off during sex.
Wearing the wrong size increases the chances of pregnancy or STI transmission by about 8x. That’s not something you want to mess with.
To find the right size condom, you first need to know the dimensions of your dick. To correctly measure your penis, you’ll need to record the length and girth. Here’s how to do it:
-
First, you have to get an erection. Watch some adult entertainment to get in the mood, or ask your partner for a hand, better yet.
-
To measure the length: Use a ruler or measuring tape to measure from the base of the penis to the tip. Remember to measure from where the shaft begins at the pubic bone. You might have to press into the skin a bit to get an accurate measure.
-
To measure the girth: Wrap a measuring tape around the thickest part of your shaft. If you don’t have a measuring tape, you can use a string and then measure it with a ruler.
Once you have your length and girth measurements, write them down.
Condoms are sold by width of the flat condom, taking some stretch into account. Most companies list their sizes in millimeters. To convert your girth (in inches) to width (in mm), multiply your girth in inches by 11.5.
So, if your girth is 4.5 inches, your width would be: 4.5 x 11.5 = 51.75mm.
You would want to look for a condom around 52mm wide.
You should also choose a condom that’s at least 1 inch longer than your dick. This gives the condom some leeway to stretch and roll, and it leaves room for the reservoir tip.
Tip: Remember that width/girth is always more important than length when choosing a condom. So always go for a condom that fits your girth even if the length isn’t exactly right.
If your dick is 5.5 inches long and 4.5 inches wide, you should look for a condom that is about 6.5-7.5 inches long and 52mm wide.
Now, simply compare your measurements with condom sizes. If you have trouble finding condom sizes listed, browse condoms at Condomania. We list condom sizes on every condom product page.
For example, Kimono Thin condoms would be a perfect fit for someone with a size of 5.5 inches long and 52 mm wide:
Note: “Condom Thickness” refers to the thickness of the condom barrier. Thinner condoms allow you to feel more sensation. Thicker condoms help you control your O and last longer.

Step 2: Choose Your Condom Material
Now that you know your size, it’s time to choose a condom material that you find comfortable.
The classic choice is latex, which is the material most condoms are made from.
But there are plenty of great non-latex condoms, too. Non-latex condoms aren’t just for people with latex allergies.
They come in several materials that provide different sensations than latex. Many guys actually prefer non-latex condoms, some of which are thinner than latex or transfer heat more effectively.
Here are some condom materials to consider:
👉 Latex: Latex is stretchy and thin, which makes for a secure form-fitting condom. However, it doesn’t transfer heat very well, and it can feel tight to some. Try Trojan ENZ and LifeStyles Lubricated.
👉 Polyisoprene: Polyisoprene is a bit thicker than latex, but it transfers heat much more effectively, allowing you to feel more of your partner and less of the condom. It’s also stretchy and soft for a super comfortable fit. Check out Skyn Condoms and Durex Real Feel.
👉 Polyurethane: Polyurethane is thinner than latex and has incredible heat transfer properties, maximizing sensation. However, it’s not as stretchy as latex or polyisoprene. Try Trojan Raw.
👉 Polyethylene resin: Polyethylene resin is the thinnest condom material on Earth. At about 3x thinner than the thinnest latex condom, these rubbers actually feel like nothing’s there. The only downside is the price. Try Unique Condoms.
👉 Lamb skin: These condoms are made from lamb intestine. Yes, it’s strange, but the sensation is amazing. These premium, semi-porous condoms allow you to feel all of your partner’s heat and moisture for ununbeatable closeness. They protect against pregnancy but not STI transmission. Check out Trojan Naturalamb.
All non-latex condoms are just as effective as latex condoms at preventing pregnancy and STI transmission. The only exception is lamb skin condoms, which do not protect against STI transmission.
If you’re wondering what a non-latex condom feels like, you can try all of the materials in a non-latex condom sampler kit.
Step 3: Choose Your Condom Style
This is the fun part. Now, you get to explore all of the exciting condom styles that boost sensation for you and your partner. Here are the most popular styles to choose from:
👉 Anal Condoms: These condoms can be used for standard Penis-in-vagina sex too, but they’re especially fun for butt stuff.
👉 Colored Condoms: Ever wanted to have a green, blue, or purple dick? Now your technicolor dreams can come true.
👉 Flavored Condoms: These condoms make foreplay and oral sex much tastier, but you shouldn’t use them for vaginal or anal sex.
👉 Lubricated Condoms: These classic condoms contain a bit of lube to make entry easier.
👉 Non-Latex Condoms: New materials for new sensations. Non-latex condoms add variety to your sex life. They’re also essential for those with latex allergies.
👉 Non-Lubricated: If you’re sensitive to lube or want to add your own, you might want to try a condom that doesn’t come pre-loaded with lube.
👉 Ribbed & Studded: These condoms have ridges or bumps on the outside. They can increase your partner’s pleasure by boosting the friction of every thrust.
👉 Ultra Thin Condoms: Less condom = more sensation. Ultra-thin condoms have a thinner barrier, so you can feel more of your partner. They are just as safe as standard condoms.
👉 Vegan Condoms: Want to save the world as you sow your oats? Vegan condoms are cruelty-free and made with zero animal products.
Keep in mind that not all of the above styles are available in all condom sizes and materials. For example, there are no non-lubricated condoms in a large size.
You may have to do a bit of searching to find the ideal condom in your size and material.
Step 4: Shop Smart
Once you know what kind of condom you want, you need to shop somewhere that sells lots of condoms. Most physical stores only sell a few standard-sized condoms.
They might have one large option, one studded condom, and one non-latex condom. This lack of variety makes it really hard to find the perfect condom.
That’s why shopping for condoms online is your best bet to find the perfect condom.
Online retailers like Condomania have hundreds of condoms to choose from, and they make it easy to browse by size, style, and brand.
Plus, you get FREE shipping, discreet packaging, and top-notch customer service included. It’s much easier and less nerve-racking to buy condoms online than it is to fumble with condoms and lube in a store.
Just make sure you buy condoms from a trustworthy website. Don’t buy from random sellers and auction sites. And never buy condoms off social media.
Condomania has been slinging condoms for over 30 years. In fact, we are the first-ever condom shop to open its doors in the USA.
Condoms are our passion. We’re so good at what we do that the CDC once invited us to educate them about non-latex condoms!
100% of the condoms on our shelves are FDA-approved for safe sex. All you have to do is follow the steps above to find the condom that’s right for you.
It’s available at Condomania now. Just waiting for its new home on your hog.
Bonus Step: Don’t Forget Lube
Condoms and lube are like Thor and his hammer. Without one another, they don’t do much good alone.
Condoms are meant to be used with sexual lubricant. Lube makes sex more comfortable and pleasurable for both partners. It also makes sex safer by reducing the chances that the condom will slip or rip.
Sex lube improves your game between the sheets, too. Your partner hates it when you have to stop the momentum to readjust the condom every few minutes.
With lube, the condom stays put and doesn’t bunch or slip.
You can actually hurt your partner during sex without lube. This is why lube is especially critical for anal sex (butts don’t self-lubricate).
Most condoms come with a bit of lubrication already applied. But it’s only enough to facilitate those first moments of penetration.
You should always keep some high-quality sex lube on your bedside table to keep your sex life slippery and safe.
The best go-to sex lube is water-based lube. It’s versatile, affordable, and easy to wash off. For a premium experience, go for silicone lube. It’s much slicker and longer-lasting, but it’s a bit more expensive.
Tip: Remember never to use oil-based lube or any oil product (such as Vaseline) as a lubricant when wearing a latex or polyisoprene condom.
Oil can cause these materials to tear more easily. It’s safe to use oil-based lube with polyurethane condoms, lamb skin condoms, and polyethylene resin condoms.
Here are a few top-rated sex lubes to try:
👉 Water-based lube: Sliquid H2O
👉 Silicone lube: Gun Oil
👉 Oil-based lube: Boy Butter Original
The Easiest Way to Find the Perfect Condom
The easiest (and most fun) way to find the perfect condom is to try a bunch of different condoms.
Once you know your size, you’re free to start exploring. You may not know what material and style of condom you prefer, and that’s ok!
The best part of finding the perfect condom is taking a bunch of new rubbers into the field and doing some vigorous “research.”
It’s not super cheap or convenient to buy box after box of condoms in the pursuit of your perfect fit. That would take way too long.
Instead, explore condom variety packs. These packs contain 12 or more different condoms, so you can try loads of condoms in no time.
Condomania offers condom variety packs based on size, so you can try a spectrum of condoms that fit your rig.
👉 Snug size condom variety pack
